The Greek community at Towson University has been in existence since 1973 and currently has 13 fraternities and 17 sororities.
Fraternities and sororities are values-based social organizations that have thrived on American college campuses for more than 200 years. Approximately thirty-four (30) fraternities and sororities comprise the Greek community at Towson University. This includes eighteen (18) traditional fraternities and sororities, six (6) historically African American Greek-letter organizations, and six (6) multicultural groups. Membership is open to full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students with at least a 2.4 cumulative GPA.
IFC: The Interfraternity Council is one of the largest student organizations on campus. IFC is composed of delegates from each recognized NIC fraternity chapter and an executive board. Currently there are 8 men’s national/international social fraternities at Towson University that gives members opportunities in leadership roles and involvement in a wide range of community service, social, academic, athletic and philanthropic activities. NPHC: The National Pan-Hellenic CounThe NPHC is the governing council for seven (6) historically African-American fraternities and sororities on campus. PHA: Panhellenic Association is the local administrative body composed of one or more delegates from each collegiate chapter of a NPC sororities on campus. The Panhellenic Association is comprised of 10 women’s national/international social sorority chapters. Panhellenic engages in philanthropic, academic, social, and community service endeavors throughout the year. A cooperative spirit and emphasis on teamwork are two key characteristics of this group.
